BDA's Vegetable Market to come at HSR Layout

Fresh Fresh Veggies

If all goes well as per BDA’s plan, the residents of HSR Layout can have a Big Vegetable Market on the lines of Raithara Santhe located elsewhere in Bangalore, where Fresh Veggies will be sold at reasonable prices. The proposed markets would be built on public private partnership. Of the 39 localities, 10 have already been identified: Cambridge Layout, HSR Layout, HAL II Stage, Jnanabharathi Layout, Vidyaranyapura, BDA ward office, Kothanur, Banashankari VI Stage, Anjanapura Township and two sites at Sir M Visvesvaraya Layout. Of the remaining 29 sites, 10 are in Bangalore East, four in Bangalore West, four in Bangalore North and 11 in Bangalore South.Around 20 per cent of the constructed area can be used for commercial purpose. According to BDA estimates, the private partner will have to spend `15,000 to construct every square metre. This takes the estimated cost of all the markets to around `107.13 crore. The BDA is planning to share the market with a private partner who is willing to give it the maximum area after constructing the market at its own cost. The BDA will fix the area that can be given to private players after assessing the market value of each site. Continue reading BDA’s Vegetable Market to come at HSR Layout

Be Alert-Muggers on Prawl on Outer Ring Road

Accenture Outer Ring Road

Since the past three months, a group of bike-borne muggers has been targeting motorists on lonely stretches of the Outer Ring Road, especially between Bellandur and Marathalli, Iblur and Kaikondrahalli, and Kaikondrahalli and Wipro. They are bold enough to strike victims in broad daylight. Police say they strike only once or twice in a month.

Cops on alert
The HSR Layout police have sent e-mail alerts to residents and IT companies in the area. A four-man patrol squad has been formed to nab the gang. The mobile numbers of the officers/beat constables are:
Inspector Rajesh — 9448448833
Sub-Inspector Mirza Ali Raza — 9972833003
Ashok (towards Marathalli) — 9902660986 (on Cheetah)
Vijayamurthy (towards Iblur) — 9980834703 (on Cheetah)
Manjunath — 9845668681 (crime squad)
Ravindranath — 9980399551 (crime squad)

Incidents of highway thieves waylaying unsuspecting motorists are now all too common in the city.

The robbers’ modus operandi is to stop a motorist at a lonely spot, falsely accuse their target of causing injury to one of their number and then demand ‘compensation’ – sometimes at knife point. Continue reading Be Alert-Muggers on Prawl on Outer Ring Road

HSR Site Owners-Keep your vacant site Clean or pay Penalty

3rd Sector Park, yet to be developed

People from different parts of the country want to settle down in Bangalore not only because it has an equable climate but also because it is fast becoming a thriving cosmopolitan metropolis. So, everyone wants to own a house or a site here but there is a problem: Some people, after buying sites, do not care to maintain them, thus creating nuisance in the entire locality.
To control/stop this trend, BBMP has initiated a drive to clean up the vacant sites. This has been taken up seriously by the BBMP in the HSR Layout, which is a sign of some good development. The cleaning work started one week before, though the BBMP had sent the circular to this effect to the concerned ward office long ago.
“Initially it started in 3rd Sector and we have cleaned 14 sites so far in this sector. Now we have taken up work in 7th Sector. Other sites will get cleaned up based on the grievances received from the Residents’ Welfare Association and the general public,” a BBMP official said. Towards a clean HSR Layout: Waste bins distributed

Green=Organic, Red=Inorganic

The HSR Layout residents and          their Corporator Latha Narasimhamurthy are going all out to make their layout clean and garbage-free. They had launched a campaign recently to create awareness about waste segregation in Agara Village and HSR Layout 4th Sector. The campaign emphasized the need for separating wet and dry kitchen wastes and putting them in two different bins (red and green) and handing them over to garbage collectors.

BBMP has already supplied 1,000 red bins and 1,000 green bins to ward No 174, each of which has a capacity to carry two to three kg of waste.  Most of the residents in Agara Village have received the bins and are using them, but the residents in Sector 4 say that they have received only about 50 bins.
