Government of Karnataka (GOK) is introducing the concept of private vehicle free areas on specific days and timings to promote the use of sustainable means of urban transport like Walking, Cycling, Public Transport and to reduce the use of private vehicles like 2-wheelers, cars etc. for commuting. Purva Amplithon- A Children’s Day Marathon

Residents of Purva Fairmont Apartments in HSR layout celebrated the Children’s Day in a very special way. The Purva Fairmont Residents Association organized the Purva Amplithon for kids on 13 November 2011, a running event with race distances of 1km, 4km and 8km. Nearly 100 children enthusiastically participated in the event.  There was also a 1km fun run for the parents. The event turned out to be huge hit with the kids!

Finisher medals and prizes were awarded at a grand ceremony the same evening. The evening also had a host of cultural activities from children and they charmed the audiences with their performances. Continue reading Purva Amplithon- A Children’s Day Marathon

Towards a clean HSR Layout: Waste bins distributed

The HSR Layout residents and          their Corporator Latha Narasimhamurthy are going all out to make their layout clean and garbage-free. They had launched a campaign recently to create awareness about waste segregation in Agara Village and HSR Layout 4th Sector. The campaign emphasized the need for separating wet and dry kitchen wastes and putting them in two different bins (red and green) and handing them over to garbage collectors.

BBMP has already supplied 1,000 red bins and 1,000 green bins to ward No 174, each of which has a capacity to carry two to three kg of waste.  Most of the residents in Agara Village have received the bins and are using them, but the residents in Sector 4 say that they have received only about 50 bins.
